Opening 911 Bonnet(Hood) with Broken Release Cable

On the Porsche 911's between 1974 and 1989 the bonnet or hood is released via a mechanical cable mechanism which is operated from within the driver's cabin. If this cable snaps or becomes jammed, it cannot be opened by the traditional method. There have been many stories of Porsche owners resorting to crow bars to forcibly open the bonnet resulting in some very expensive damage.

Porsche released a technical guide of how to open the bonnet or hood in the event of such a failure without causing any expensive damage to the car. Please login to continue reading the rest of this article.
