Hi David - I agree a 911 engine would be best, budget is everything. I saw a 3.0SC engine for sale on www.stuttgartexchange.com but shipping might be a killer and Im not 100% sure if it will mate to your gearbox. Others might chime in on this one. Keep up the good work and I look forward to more video blog updates.
Thanks Pete. I think the 3.0 SC engine might be a little too much for my gearbox (901) to handle - could be wrong. Anyway, I'll be saving my pennies...
What a great project, sounds like a mamoth task, but to get something that looks like an ST will be awesome. What are your plans in the engine department - keep the 912 or upgrade to something alittle more akin to the ST. Looking forward to watching your video series.
Pete - first, I love your columns and am an avid reader - thank you. Second, a mamoth task indeed. Engine plans are unknown at this time. I want an older 911 engine (not fussed what year or displacement so long as it mates to the 901 gearbox). Others have tried to persuade me to fit a VW type 4 due to cost and convenience concerns. We'll see - but really want a 911 engine. Thanks again. David

Very nice project. Any more progress? Is it finished?
