  •  I just purchased a 320GB Playstation 3 and Gran Turismo 5. I already have a PS2 and GT4. I was delighted to find my GT Force Drive steering wheel and pedals work perfectly with the new console. As a Porsche loyalist I am shocked to find no Porsches available on the new GT5. And the Ring's amazing track is not to be found either. There are Ferraris and tons of little rice burners I never heard of. The graphics are much better but you'll need an HD TV to get the best effect. On the GT4 game with PS2 I had well over $11 Million credits built up and every hot ride I wanted. Over 70 cars. There is no way to pay any of that forward and I loose tracks and cars I love to drive. THis is a racing series game but every new issue stands alone and starts the gamer off at an elementary level. I don't know id any Need for Speed games with work with the Logitech wheel? If you know, please tell me which ones.

They make fun of we boys and our toys but every woman wants her big, guardian, lover husband to be a boy. Maintaining that boyhood is our responsibility!

Any other responsible people out there with Playstation experience?

Seems like the Playstation platform has been hacked. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2011/jan/07/playstation-3-hack- ps3

Not too sure if anyone else cares about this but us Pete. Here's a few things I've picked up these past several days on PS3 GT5.. First and best of all: THERE ARE 911 STYLE EARLIER PORSCHES IN THE GAME.!!! When you get to the professional level you will start to see Porsches everywhere in the race competition. I sure hope they start passing them out as bonus cars for winning championships along the way. But at least we can race against them. At that level you'll need a tricked out super-car to have a shot at winning anything. I also learned, just yesterday, if you like to use the blue track/drive line in "A" spec races you'll notice red will appear as place where braking is needed. If you don't need to brake there won't be any red at all. I find down shifting and a quick tap of the brake erases the red line and allows me to dive in and power out (just like real driving)... I'm loving the game. Wish I had a few million credits to play with though! LOL

Yesterday I was running through some Amature and Pro races in B-Spec mode. I'll swear I saw a 911 turbo's rear end in front of me in one race start. They must be in there somewhere! I'm going to write them and see if there are Porsches hidden in the game somewhere for us to discover at a higher level???

Nice post Donnyzart. Ive been a playstation fan for what seems ages. The GT series is in my opinion the best platform driving simulator/game available today. I remember driving the Porsches and RUF cars in the earlier games, but like you I was suprised to see that POrsche has not got its cars on the GT5 incarnation. I think that's a big mistake on their part. People of all ages play GT5 and it would have been a power advertising/marketing tool for them. I see ferrari is on there - oh dear!

"fingers crossed" I hear that. The guys at Porsche AG are pretty snobby and probably could care less about the exclusion of Porsche from the cars available on GT5. Big mistake on their part...

I just sent a comment to the GT5 designer's feed back page and invited him to read and comment on ours. Let's see what they have to say... If they answer at all.

Sure would be interesting to get this blog in front of the game designers and our friends at Porsche AG. They should hear how the lack of a Porsche presence in GT5 and omission of our favorite tracks from PS2/GT4 in the new version effects loyal Porsche people. What a shameful circumstance!

Brilliant little blog. I think the Gran Turismo series is the best driving game ever. My favourite track has to be Monaco. Such a technical course and no room for error! I havent got GT5 yet - what a shame there are no Porsches present.

That's good Pete and Ipellecc... And "yes" the snow is getting to me. We still have a foot of snow on the drives and in the trees from last week! Freezing weather and frozen everything makes Donny a cabin-fever maniac. Playstation gives me the ability to "drive it like I stole it" on great tracks, city-scapes and world class courses. The sounds, the feel in the wheel and the ability to run rough shawed over all comers keeps me going... Rather it's Porsche or Sony, it's stupid not to have "our brand" excluded in the GT5 series. Too bad we can't buy and install some P-cars into the game. Oh well, I guess we will just have to find OTHER FAVORITES to drive. Ya hear that Porsche!? Get in the game! Who's got some meaningful cheats to share? Eventually we will all meet on line with our PS3/GT5's and really race!

Nice blog Donny. Like you, I've been a playstation since it's inception. I bought PS1 with Gran Turismo when it first launched and I have been ooked on Gran Turismo ever since (I have Brembo Gran Turismo brakes on my actual 911). I adore the accuracy of the GT game. The sounds, the handling and performance are all like their real cousins. For me GT5 is fabulous. I'm devastated there is no Porsches to choose from, but I agree with lpellecc it's bound to be a licencing issue. My favourite circuits are trial mountain, grand valley east, deep forest, Monaco and the Nurburgring. The pit stops at last give you the option to fuel up and change tyres. Ive only just started playing it, so Ive a long time to go before Ive earnt enough money to enjoy the better cars......

Is the snow getting to you? Maybe some time rubbing down Precious in that man cave would help the cabin fever? I believe all of the Porsches are now only in Forza series on the XBox. I guess there is licensing involved to put the car in the games. Leave it to lawyers to mess up a perfectly good time. I wonder how many of these gaming platforms you have to own to keep all of the fun coming? Seems like surprizes of this kind come every time a newer version of a racing game comes. I was looking at on line racing with iRacing.com, no Porsche there either.

Anyhow, watch for girlz and their toyz....taking the cars out for some exercise this weekend.  Testing out the new cold air intake.  I'll try to play nice with the boyz.

I should mention that I hooked up the PS2 and PS3 together so I can play on either platform. I love the challenge of the race but I also enjoy revisiting favorite tracks or cities or whatever just for the fun of running sections I really enjoy.
