  • Had my first track day at lime rock or I should say almost had.  I saw something about a track day at lime rock this past 11/13/2010 and figured I would get me 997 to the track.  Well, to get it there is more complicated than I thought so I headed over to just check it out.  All types of porsches were there from all over.  People of all ages with one thing in mind, driving their Porsche faster than the guy behind them.  A couple of of big expensive porsches showed up, turbos, gt3, carrera GT's.  Great weather and great people.  Can't beat it.  I even got to sit passenger in a yellow cayman that was for track only.  What a monster car and man, this guy did not let up.  Fastest car there, no doubt.  Thanks to Don S for the wicked nasty ride!!!    This is a great car adn super fast but I do like the creature comforts of my 997s.  This first season of driving my porsche has been a blast.  I am thinking it can't get much better but they tell me it will.

I started the beginning of my track days one year ago. It has become some what of an addiction, so be prepared for the inevitable track bug. I started with the PCA and they put on some great events that are run safely and they teach you what you need to know to enjoy your car while minimizing the risks. If you are worried about damage, there is track insurance available through the PCA. I think the best news is the Porsche warranty will handle non-crash related mechanical problems, further demonstating that these cars are meant to be driven on the track...don't try that with a GT-R! With the PCA, all you need is a proper helmet, get your car tech inspected for about $100, pay your entry fee and off you go to the event. It seems involved the first couple of times but if you ask some of the people at the event, they are always helpful to tell you where tech and the classrooms are. I hope to get to Lime Rock one day. Maybe we'll see you there. For now I have to slum it at Sebring.

Im always pleased to hear when owners tske their cars to the track. That's what they were designed for.

HeyPete, good to hear from you. You are so right and I have the car so I might as well enjoy it fully. I am going to read up on it and make it to a couple track days for sure. I want to get it out there and see what happens. Of course, I saw a white boxster spin and hit the wall. Spoilt his day for sure. But, yes, I am going to do it this spring!

Hey Tony - The track is where Porsches are mean't to be. Porsche designed their cars to be driven to the track, driven hard, and then driven home ready for their routing drive backwards and forwards to work. Everytime I go to the track it makes you realise just how great these cars are. My local track here in the UK is Brands Hatch and I often pop along and take a few pictures and videos. Here's on I took this year: http://www.p101tv.com/videos/64/brands-hatch Will you be prepping yours for the Track Tony?
